Another Op’nin’, Another Show

Finally after a gap of approximately far too long, I am once again involved with a pantomime production (go on then, you know you want to – after three. Three – “Oh no you’re not”). Happy now? To be honest, at the time of writing we are nearly halfway through the performances (yes, half of “it’s behind me”). This time though, rather than being back-stage dropping the dwarfs’ cottage, I am at the opposite end of the building, running the sound desk. Actually it would be nigh impossible to drop this cottage as they’ve put it on wheels – which surely just means it’s a caravan?

Anyway, apart from the music which was picked by the production team, I’ve had a free hand in choosing the various sound effects. I’ve therefore had a lot of fun both sourcing sound effects and editing them and the show music. I use Audacity which is a neat little editor and which has enabled me to edit sounds together and indeed trim the effects so that there is no delay on them.

Roles graph

Working on this show got me thinking. I try to keep records of all the shows I’ve worked on and whilst some of the information isn’t to hand at the moment, from the information I can gather, I think this is my 44th show or production (although admittedly, some of those have been single performance, “one night only”s). So clearly it was time for a graph … cue phpMyAdmin.
